Conference - Bellevue, WA, United States
This conference will cover various aspects of cancer metabolism biology, such as autophagy, nutrient sensing, and key metabolic regulators, as well as the novel therapeutic strategies that capitalize on recent advances in our understanding of metabolic and growth control pathways. Interest in cancer metabolism has been renewed due to our deeper mechanistic understanding of the interconnected signaling cascades and the identification of mutated genes and metabolic enzymes involved. These molecular insights now offer the possibility of developing novel anticancer treatments targeting tumor dependence on altered metabolic pathways. At the organism level, it has demonstrated that caloric restriction has a protective effect against cancer in animals, while obesity is now recognized as a risk factor for a number of cancer types. This AACR Special Conference will focus on the basic biology as well as the development of targeted therapeutics that capitalize on our understanding of key intervention points in these metabolic and growth control pathways.
