Neuroscientists at Rockefeller University in New York will be making breakthroughs in a brand new institute, according to a recent announcement from the university and the Kavli Foundation. The new Kavli Neural Systems Institute (Kavli NSI) will be located at Rockefeller University, thanks in part to a $20 million endowment supported equally by Kavli and Rockefeller.
In being formed, Rockefeller’s new institute joins seven other Kavli Institutes tasked with performing fundamental research in neuroscience, and 20 Kavli Institutes dedicated to astrophysics, nanoscience, neuroscience, and theoretical physics.
In addition to this project, other Kavli institutes devoted to neuroscience are being created at Johns Hopkins University and the University of California, San Francisco, and Kavli Institute endowments are underway at Columbia University, the University of California, San Diego, Yale University, and the Norweigen University of Science and Technology.
According to the university announcement, the institute will facilitate interdepartmental collaborations at Rockefeller, while providing seed funding for high-risk, high-reward research initiatives. Among the 36 Rockefeller faculty members who will join Kavli NSI will be faculty members of the Center for Studies in Physics and Biology.
With ongoing research projects being conducted every year, regular access to new the best lab equipment and supplies is crucial to the success of many science programs at Rockefeller University.
In order to help researchers gain access to these supplies, Biotechnology Calendar, Inc. is hosting the 20th Semiannual BioResearch Product Faireâ„¢ event at Rockefeller University on March 24, 2016. This popular annual event is a great opportunity for lab supply vendors to meet members of the life science research community who are interested the latest in biotech, lab supplies and lab equipment in one place, on their own campus.
