Over $1 Billion in Research Marketplace Opportunities in Chicago

Research Expenditure: $327 Million
NIH Funding: $142 Million
Additional Funding has been secured for the $100 Million Drug Discovery and Innovation Pavilion, a 5-story pharmaceutical research building proposed for the UIC campus in conjunction with the NIH and DPI, with funding to pull from the $500 Million Discovery Partners fund.
Last year the University opened its $43 Million Engineering Innovation Building to support nano-to-mega scale research.

Research Funding: $797.8 Million
Last year Northwestern at Chicago opened the first labs in the Louis A. Simpson and Kimberly K. Querrey Biomedical Research Center, the largest new building solely dedicated to biomedical research in an American medical school. This will enable the school to increase its total sponsored research funding by more than $150 Million annually or $1.5 billion in the next ten years.
