Written by Ashley Adams | Fri, Mar 22, 2019

The $515M Health Education Campus, a collaboration project between Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland Clinic, is scheduled to open this summer. The campus’ centerpiece facility is going to be named the Sheila and Eric Samson Pavilion in recognition of their significant contribution to the project. Mr. Samson, executive chairman of Macsteel Holdings, had a successful heart surgery performed by the former CEO and president of Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Toby Cosgrove and is a member of Cleveland Clinic’s International Leadership Board. This recent donation by Mr. Samson and his wife is among the largest to be received by the clinic.

The 11-acre Health Education Campus as a whole is going to bring together 2,200 medical, dental, nursing, and physician assistant students. Amongst an array of state of the art technologies, the campus is also going to include a 126,000 sq. ft dental clinic, high-tech simulation lab and an innovation laboratory where students as well as faculty can test and pilot new technologies. In addition to the Health Education Campus being well underway, funding is also on the rise with this past year bringing in the highest research and development funding Case Western has seen since 2014.
