The University of Colorado's Anschutz Medical Campus has long been a leader in understanding Multiple Sclerosis (MS) with numerous clinical trials and essential basic research. Now the University plans to create the translational Research Laboratory at the Rocky Mountain MS Center, which will transform its investigation into treatment for the disease that will directly benefit patients.
This expansion comes on the heels of several groundbreaking clinical trials that happened at Anschutz Medical Campus including the new drug tysabri which can actually stop the advancement of MS symptoms and sometimes even reverse damage the disease has caused.
The new translational research laboratory seeks to build on the success of recent clinical trials by taking new research discoveries and transforming them into realistic and effective therapies. MS translational research would allow new research discovers to directly benefit patients and greatly aid in the fight against this terrible disease.
The University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center was created on 2004 with the merging of The University of Colorado in Denver and University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. With Nearly $400 Million in NSF and nearly $200 Million in NIH funding this institution is one of the newest and most modern in the world regarding the combination of patient care, research and education. Currently, this campus collaborates with and operates in close proximity to Fitzsimons Life Science District.
