Written by Jennifer Nieuwkerk | Tue, Dec 03, 2013

Researchers at the University of California, Davis Cancer Center recently received $3 million in UC Davis life science funding from the National Cancer Institute, a part of the NIH. The project leader, Dr. De Vere White,  targets his research to focus on prostate and bladder cancers. In addition Dr. De Vere has received continual NCI funding for this research since 1985.

Dr. De Vere White’s main area of interest is p53 and miRNA studies in prostate cancer. He is currently  managing  three nationally funded grants. Two grants are supported through the Department of Defense. One of these grants is a study on miRNA in the development of prostate cancer, and the other grant is for a project determining functional validation of Relaxin as a potential biomarker for prostate cancer. His third funded grant comes from the National Cancer Institute and is also a study concerned with miRNA. (University of California, Davis)

As one of the most prominent research institutions in the country, the university has a wealth of funding available to lab suppliers selling lab equipment.
