Rodent Surgery Hands-on Training (5-day)

Training Course - Almere, The Netherlands

Charles River and the René Remie Surgical Skills Centre (RRSSC) have joined their expertise and are pleased to offer a 5-day surgery training course. Held at the RRSSC in the Netherlands, this training is designed to be very practical and combines lectures with hands-on exercises, ensuring you receive the most comprehensive training experience.

This course is recommended for mid- or high-level vascular catheterization procedures (advanced catheterization techniques, blood pressure telemetry, myocardial infarction, neurological procedures). Below is the agenda for this course:

Day 1: Basic microsurgical techniques in rodents I

Non-surgical techniques

Suture materials and instruments

Good surgical practices

Day 2: Basic microsurgical techniques in rodents II

Asepsis

Anesthesia and analgesia (including peri-operative care and monitoring)

Monitoring

Dissection techniques

Day 3: Basic specific surgical technique training (on demand: basic catheterization, exeresis)

Specific surgical model theory (techniques, principle, model handling) and practical exercises

Day 4: Specific surgical technique in rodents– model on demand I

Introduction and expectations for the specific course

Specific theory on the model(s) of interest

Practical exercises and quality control

Day 5: Specific surgical technique in rodents– model on demand II

Discussion around the previous day observations– tips and tricks

Quality control comments

Practical exercises and quality control

Course evaluation
