This webinar will address: Brief introduction addressing; Where analgesics act, Why multimodal analgesia might be advantageous, Adverse effects of analgesic drugs on experiments, Nonpharmacological methods, Commonly used pharmacological agents (opioids, NSAIDs), Delivery route – what works for what agents, Frequency and dosages – true and practical, Single vs combinations, Local anesthetics, Other agents to consider; Alpha2 agonists, Ketamine, Tramadol, Gabapentin, Sustained release formulations, Factors including the selection of an appropriate analgesic regiment based on anticipated degree of pain. This interactive webinar designed for scientists and support staff, veterinary technicians, veterinarians, institutional animal care and use committee members. This webinar meets the Registry of Approved Continuing Education (RACE), the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS), Canadian Association for Laboratory Animal Science (CALAS), and Academy of Surgical Science (ASR) requirements for Continuing Education Units.
