International Symposium on Adiponectin Biology and Medicine

Symposium - Tomakomai, Japan

It is our great pleasure to announce the 64th Fujihara Seminar, International Symposium on Adiponctin Biology and Medicine, held from Saturday, August 4th-Tuesday, August 7th, 2012 at the Grand Hotel New Oji, Tomakomai, Hokkaido, Japan. Adiponectin is a secretory hormone from adipocytes (adipokine) first discovered by four independent groups in mid 1990s. Subsequent ten to fifteen years have witnessed rapid progress in our understanding of biology and pathophysiology of aidponectin. Accumulated evidences suggest a defect in adiponectin and adiponectin receptor system plays a central role in the development of obesity-related diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. The symposium will gather approximately 100 specialists and young investigators, and aims to provide a forum focused specifically on adiponectin reasearch. It is worthy of note that this is one of the largest international symposiums focused on adiponectin that have ever been seen. This meeting will be held under the auspices of the 64th Fujihara Seminar, one of the educational projects sponsored by the Fujihara Foundation of Science. The ultimate goal of this meeting is to provide an opportunity for attendees to communicate and promote an integrated understanding of adiponectin biology and medicine.
