Cell Symposia: Angiogenesis, Metabolic Regulation, and Cancer Biology in association with VIB
Symposium - Leuven, Belgium
The formation, function and remodeling of the vasculature is intimately linked to the metabolic needs of the tissues it serves - whether that tissue is an essential organ or a pathological abnormality such as a tumor. Tools to investigate the complexity of molecular, cellular, and metabolic interactions amongst different tissues in vivo have only recently become available; the fields of angiogenesis, cancer biology, and metabolism have accordingly made rapid and exciting progress. This interdisciplinary meeting will bring these three fields together in an effort to connect them while capitalizing on new technologies. Our speakers will present recent advances in our understanding of how molecular signaling, cellular dynamics, and metabolic regulation converge during normal development and remodeling and highlight how studying angiogenesis regulation, stromal plasticity, and endothelial microenvironment offer unprecedented opportunities for designing new therapeutic strategies.
