Keystone Symposia: Emerging Concepts and Targets in Islet Biology
Conference - Keystone, CO, United States
The conference will:
• Focus on new signaling pathways in adult islet cells that impact islet cell physiology by controlling the function, promoting survival and/or increasing proliferation of islet cells;
• Explore potential new diabetes drug targets involving islet cells, both localized to the islet milieu and from different organ systems;
• Incorporate sessions and workshops covering major areas of interest such as stem cell and iPS research investments, non-invasive assessment
of beta cell mass and function, and the procurement and distribution of high-quality human islet and pancreas samples for research work.
Session topics:
• New Insights into Beta Cells Signaling Pathways
• The Role of Non-Beta Cells in Glucose Homeostasis
• Novel Drug Targets to Enhance Beta Cell Function
• Novel Drug Targets to Preserve and/or Promote Proliferation of Beta Cells
• Targeting Extra-Pancreatic Tissues to Regulate Beta Cell Biology – Systemic Communication
• Targeting Local Innervation and Vascularization to Regulate Beta Cell Biology – Intra-Islet Communication
• Non-Invasive Assessment of Beta Cell Function and Mass
• Novel Genes Involved in Islet Dysfunction
plus workshops on late-breaking topics
