U.Wisconsin Researchers Develop New Material to Separate Oil from Water

The Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill that occurred in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010 spilled 4.9 million barrels of oil into the Gulf, causing tremendous impacts to the ecosystem. The Exxon Valdez Oil Spill in the Prince William Sound in 1989 also had a tremendous impact on the environment. $17.8 Million Awarded to the University of Minnesota to Support Materials Research Center

With a recent award from the National Science Foundation, the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota will receive a total of $17.8 million over the next 6 years to support the university's Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC).
