2012 Life Science R & D Expenditures: 119th Ranked in Life Science and had Life Science Research Expenditures of $40,930,277 [1]

2013 NIH Funding: 26th Ranked= $184,343,068 [2]

The University of Colorado Boulder research received $ 380.7 million in sponsored funding for 2011/2012, up by nearly $22 million over the previous year. Much of the sponsored research funding is allocated to researchers with unique expertise, such as biotechnology and aerospace, which stimulates industry. [3]

The University of Colorado Boulder and the National Institute of Standards and Technology have joined forces and opened advanced laboratories in a new wing at the University. The combined funding for the project totals $32.7 million. [4]

UC Boulder is to receive a five year $9.2 million grant to support research into manipulating E-coli into producing low cost bio fuels. [5]

JILA, a joint institute of the University of Colorado Boulder and the National Institute of Standards and Technology has opened a new wing with advanced laboratories for its world-renowned science. [6]

UC Boulder received $1.4 million to study how change of land use, forest management and climate change, affect water diversion in Colorado and other arid regions of the US. [7]

Colorado received $13 million in NIH grants in FY 2013 to train the next generation of innovative scientists. [8]

In the past 20 years, the University of Colorado has led to the formation of 132 start-up companies, 105 of which are currently operational, and 89 of these have operations in Colorado [9]
