Market to a Well-Funded Research University

The National Institutes of Health has awarded a new five-year, $51 million grant to a team of Georgia research universities to further advance clinical and translational science.

  • The Commit to Georgia fundraising campaign has raised over $680M since 2012 for education, scholarships and research at UGA. The campaign is on track to meet its $1.2B goal by 2020.

  • UGA administrators plan to use $10 million to modernize the old labs in UGA’s chemistry and biology buildings, both first occupied in 1960. The renovated labs will primarily become facilities for faculty research and are expected to be ready for operation summer 2016.

  • The University of Georgia, Athens is in its third year of a five-year, $7 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to research the processes of Glycan formation and it's involvement in disease development with the aim of discovering new therapeutics.
