Congress has authorized $1.455 billion over 10 years for “All of Us Research” program. UCSD receives an $11.9M grant for the California Precision Medicine Research Program Consortium as part of the larger grant involved in the “All of Us” program.

All of Us is the first ever attempt to gather genetic, biological, environmental, health and lifestyle data from one million or more volunteer participants living in the United States. This federal initiative’s foremost goal is to accelerate research and improve health.

Typical research studies are focused on a particular disease or group of people. “All of Us” will be a national research resource to give information to thousands of studies, covering a wide range of health conditions.

Data from the program will allow researchers to learn more about how the participant’s lifestyle, environment, and biological makeup can influence health and disease. Participants will be able to access their own data and a summary of the findings that come from “All of Us”.

The California Precision Medicine Consortium is co-led by Lucila Ohno-Machado, MD, PhD, at UC San Diego Health and Hoda Anton-Culver, PhD, at UCI Health.  "The consortium also includes UC Davis, UC San Francisco, Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and the San Diego Blood Bank. In San Diego, San Ysidro Health is also enrolling participants, and the Scripps Translational Science Institute at The Scripps Research Institute is working with corporate partners to enroll participants nationwide.”
