Stony Brook Receives $14.2M from NIH for New Laboratory

Researchers at Stony Brook University, led by Samuel Stanley, applied for NIH funding to build an animal biosafety level three laboratory and received $14.2 million this year. Stony Brook University is one of the leading research universities in the country. According to the Stony Brook website, the university employs over 1000 researchers working on 1600 active sponsored projects. Life Science Marketing Events in NY Following NIH & NSF Grants

Biotechnology Calendar, Inc.’s three back-to-back New York life science marketing events are quickly approaching starting October 1st, 2013, and they are the perfect opportunities for lab suppliers to market their university lab equipment and life science solutions. Our New York life science marketing events attracted 850 attendees last year. Of the attendees, 216 were purchasing agents, professors and post docs, and 83 were lab managers. The visitors represented 63 different research buildings and 153 departments across the three campuses. How many days of canvassing campuses would it take to visit over 150 research departments? These three life science marketing events introduce lab suppliers to hundreds of leads over the space of a few hours in just three days.

Spotlight on Universities Receiving MS Research Funding

In yesterday’s blog, Biotechnology Calendar, Inc. spotlighted two schools receiving funding from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Funding totaled $2.5 million and will be given to a network of nine institutions searching for a cure for MS including the Mayo Clinic, the University of California at San Francisco, Stony Brook University, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Children’s Hospital Boston, Texas Children’s Hospital, Loma Linda University, the State University of New York at Buffalo and Massachusetts General Hospital.

Nine Institutions Receive Funding for MS Research

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society announced a commitment of $2.5 million to the Network of Pediatric MS Centers, a network of nine centers that includes the Mayo Clinic, the University of California at San Francisco, Stony Brook University, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Children’s Hospital Boston, Texas Children’s Hospital, Loma Linda University, the State University of New York at Buffalo and Massachusetts General Hospital. According to PR Newswire, the funding will be used to research the cause of MS by investigating risk factors for the disease in children close to the time of exposure.
