Debunking the Urban Myth: Rodents Don't Support Biotech Programs

Workshop - Carlsbad, CA, United States

In this workshop, speakers will discuss pathways supporting drug action in various species. We’ll discuss species selection based on evidence around a specific drug, rather than rote arguments based on generalized regulatory guidance in hopes of avoiding future cases like the TGN1412 clinical tragedy.

What key data are needed to trust data from rodent species?  Expert toxicologists and industry thought leaders will bring more case examples to light and share their current challenges in characterizing pathways, improving their preclinical drug development programs and reducing irrelevant animal use.

Topics

Human prediction for specific biologic drugs and actions

Cross-species pathway exploration to solidify toxicology model selection

Physiologic, pharmacology and cell biology studies in multiple species

Open floor discussion
