Translational Research Approaches to Reduce Health Disparities in Lung Disease

Symposium - Chicago, IL, United States

The past two decades have witnessed tremendous advances in targeted personalized respiratory medicine mainly due to dramatic developments in drug discovery, high throughput screening, DNA sequencing technology, genomics and systems biology; however, the associated health disparities remain unaddressed.

The conference will showcase basic, translational and clinical research advances and facilitate collaborative interactions in the broad area of respiratory medicine. The topics to be covered are pulmonary vascular disorders, lung cancer, acute lung injury, interstitial lung disease, and airway diseases.

The symposium is also intended to serve as a training platform. Graduate students, clinical research fellows and post-doctoral scientists are invited to submit posters of their original work in the general areas of pulmonary vascular disorders, lung cancer, acute lung injury, interstitial lung and airway diseases. The research may or may not be related to health disparities; however, the best poster from each thematic area (with the greatest impact in terms of innovation and significance) will be recognized with an award and short oral presentation as a part of the conference.
