UCLA Researchers Develop Cytometry Process to Diagnose Cancer
UCLA researchers have developed a new approach to diagnosing cancer. The commercial applications of this research are endless, as the research is already in being translated into new technology by a Los Angeles start up. The technique allows researchers to accurately diagnose cancers by observing bodyily fluids and the physical characteristics of cells.

$6.4M in Life Science Research Funding Awarded to Georgetown
The NIH awarded Georgetown University $6.4 million this year for its department of internal medicine. The program receiving this grant is the Georgetown-Howard Universities Center for Clinical and Translational Science, and the funding organization within the NIH was the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences.

NIH Gives $3M in UC Davis Life Science Funding
Researchers at the University of California, Davis Cancer Center received $3 million in life science funding from the National Cancer Institute, a part of the NIH. The project leader, Dr. De Vere White, has received continual NCI funding for this research since 1985.

Glaucoma Treatment Market Grows Within Texas Medical Center and U.S.
Texas Medical Center doctors now have access to a new, minimally invasive treatment available only at the Houston Methodist Hospital. A Frost & Sullivan report forecasts that the market revenues will grow from what was $2.19 billion in 2010 to $2.25 billion in 2016.
